There are more than 70 schools in Catalonia offering water activities to help you have an active holiday. Here are just a few to get you started packing your bags.
A maritime destination
Have you ever thought about nautical tourism? The Catalan coastline has a total of 580 kilometers of coastline, where several water sports resorts offer their activities. You’ll find them on the Costa Brava, Costa Barcelona, Costa Daurada and Terres de l’Ebre. This type of activity is suitable for everyone, from couples who want a romantic experience to friends who want to combine gastronomy and sport, as well as families who want to enjoy an unforgettable experience.
70 certified schools
If you want to learn to sail, do it with one of the schools recognised by the Catalan Sailing School: an entity managed by the Catalan Sailing Federation, which has a network of more than 70 schools with a common objective: to promote the learning and improvement of sailing, guaranteeing the best quality teaching for all levels and all people.
The sailing schools in Catalonia offer you the chance to learn to sail in different modalities: dinghy sailing, cruising, Catalan skate, windsurfing, kitesurfing or catamaran.
It is an opportunity to discover natural enclaves of great scenic value.
Catalonia is rich in natural parks. Between Cap de Creus and the Ebro Delta, both inland and on the coast, you can find different natural spaces that complement the active leisure activities of your destinations. Few places offer such a variety of natural parks and ecosystems as those surrounding Catalonia’s marine resorts.
Wetlands, cliffs, dunes, ponds, underwater caves, rice paddies, native flora and fauna …… make each area a unique place to enjoy all that nature has to offer.
Cities certified for maritime tourism
In Catalonia there are also towns certified in the field of sports tourism. Cambrils and Salou are two of them, do you know them? These two towns are in the province of Tarragona and are waiting for you to enjoy a unique experience.
The town of Cambrils is famous for its quiet beaches and warm waters, but also for its seafood cuisine and, above all, for the wide range of activities on offer: watching the sunset from a sailing boat, spending a day with paella on board, renting a kayak, fishing for tuna, visiting the fish market ……. Choose one of your favourites.
In 2013, the Catalan Tourism Agency awarded Salou the seal of approval as a sports tourism destination, proving that the city has high quality facilities and services for all levels of sport: elite, professional and amateur. From its base by the sea, you won’t miss any of them.
