Jeréz de la frontera

Our first stop will be the Alcazar of Jerez de Fontera, one of the most beautiful places in Spain. The Alcazar of Jerez de la Frontera is a set of fortified buildings of Almohad origin that were probably built in the 12th century. It´s the oldest Almohad building in the Iberian Peninsula. Which later were added palatial baroque buildings, and which is one of the main monuments of the city; It is located in the southwest corner of the wall that surrounded the city, next to the Alameda Vieja.

After a beautiful walk through the streets of Jerez, we will go to the Cathedral of Jerez de la Frontera. The cathedral of the Diocese of Asidonia-Jerez is a 17th century construction that combines Gothic, Baroque and Neoclassical styles.

We will continue our private tour to the Cartuja de Jerez de la Frontera. It´s located to the south of the city. It is the monumental complex of greatest artistic value in the province of Cadiz, in Andalusia. Its initial architectural style corresponds to late Gothic and dates from the 15th century.

Cadiz

We will start by getting to know the city’s seafront promenade, the most important and beautiful place in the city. It is very similar to the Malecón in Havana.

We will then head towards the city centre to visit the Plaza San Juan de Dios or Plaza del Ayuntamiento. Here we will see interesting buildings such as the church of San Juan de Dios, the Casa de los Pazos Miranda and the Town Hall. The result of two stages; the first and main neoclassical building, begun in 1799 by the architect Torcuato Benjumeda, and the second corresponding to the Elizabethan period, the work of García Álamo.

We will continue our tour through the Barrio del Pópulo, the oldest quarter of the city and we will see the three entrance arches (Arco de la Rosa, Arco del Pópulo, Arco de los Blancos).

We will continue to the Central Market, a market with a multitude of stalls, especially those selling fresh fish and seafood. One of the most important and peculiar places to see in Cádiz.

After the market, we will visit the beautiful Plaza de las Flores and the Torre Tavira. The tallest building in the old town.

We will reach the famous Falla Theatre, the epicentre of the carnival of Cadiz and the Genovés Park, which dates back to the end of the 18th century. Since its inauguration appears in almost every ranking as one of the most beautiful urban parks in Spain.
