Piazza del Duomo

Signoria Square

The Piazza della Signoria is the historic center of Florence and was used as a place for public executions during the Renaissance. The most famous event that took place in this square was when Cosimo I de’ Medici, Duke of Florence, ordered the execution of his arch-rival Girolamo Savonarola on May 23, 1498. The Piazza del Duomo is also the historical center of Florence and is located in front of the cathedral. 

Palazzo Vecchio

The Palazzo Vecchio is one of the most important buildings in Florence, Italy. It is a symbol of the city and is located in the center of Florence. It was built in 1298 and designed by Arnolfo di Cambio.

Palazzo Vecchio was originally built as a fortress to protect the city from attacks by other cities. In 1442, after being conquered by the Florentines, it became their headquarters and was used for military purposes until 1865, when it became a museum.

Michelangelo Square
