Private Sharjah and Ajman Tour from Dubai
This half-day city tour from Dubai will serve you as an introduction to the emirates of Sharjah and Ajman, Dubai’s neighbors.
Sharjah, the only emirate that borders both the Persian and Oman gulfs, has been named Arab Capital of Culture and World Book Capital by UNESCO, Healthy City by WHO, one of the best cities for university students, cultural capital of the UAE, and capital of Islamic culture in 2014.
It hosts major administrative and commercial centers, several museums, two main covered souks, recreational áreas, public parks, and numerous mosques.
Ajman, meanwhile, is much smaller than Sharjah and is completely engulfed by it, so we can pass through it as part of a visit to Sharjah. The emirate’s tourist attractions are growing rapidly, and include Ajman Beach, the Ajman National Museum, located in the Ajman Fort, the Red Fort and the Inner Enclave Museum in Manama.
Your private guide and driver will meet you at your place of choice in Dubai city and drive you along this route in a private vehicle. At the end of the tour, you will be brought back to Dubai.
Points of interest
Sharjah Cultural Square
The half-day city tour of Sharjah and Ajman from Dubai will begin with a photo stop at Sharjah Cultural Square. Designed by Spanish sculptor Carlos Marinas Rubias, it is intended to represent the spiritual heart of the city. The monument, known as the Quran Monument, is surrounded by numerous stately buildings built in traditional Islamic architectural style. The area includes the governments building, the Ahmed Hanbal Mosque and the Palace of Culture.
Souk of Al Majarrah
The golden-roofed souk building attracts many travelers every year. Once a popular shopping spot, the souk building has now been converted into the Sharjah Museum of Islamic Civilization. The museum houses some of the finest collections of exquisite Islamic artifacts from around the world.
Al Hisn Fort
The most important heritage city of Sharjah, Al Hisn Fort was built in 1823, and became a museum in 1997. This fort, located in the heart of Sharjah, was the headquarters and residence of the ruling family. When it was built, it was the largest construction in Sharjah.
Blue Souk
It is an authentic Arab market and a must-see place in Sharjah. It is the best place to buy jewelry, carpets, textiles or antiques; compared to the luxury souks in Dubai, the stores in the Blue Souk are more authentic and there is a wider variety of traditional products from the region.
King Faisal Mosque
Covering an area of 12,000 square meters, it is named after King Faisal bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud, former ruler of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This mosque is the largest mosque in the UAE and a perfect example of beautiful Arabian architecture, and offers fantastic photo opportunities. You will also pass by the “Pearl Monument“, dedicated to the union of the seven Emirates.
Ajman Museum
With an interesting collection of artifacts from different eras preserved in a beautifully restored fort, the Ajman House Museum is one of the emirate’s most visited historical attractions. In the 18th century, the fort served as the ruler’s residence until 1970. A decade later, the fort became a museum. In the museum there is a section dedicated to the pearl trade that once dominated the region’s economy. One of the most notable exhibits is the pottery and funerary jewelry dating back to 3000 BC. The fort itself is the finest example of traditional Emirati architecture.
The half-day city tour of Sharjah and Ajman will end with this visit, and you will be driven back to Dubai.
