Tomamos un tour de 4 horas vistamos las playas, la ciudad del arte y ciencia, y el casco histórico. El transporte también muy cómodo. We were picked up from our hotel in central Madrid and driven in a luxury car to Toledo where we... read moreWe were picked up from our hotel in central Madrid and driven in a luxury car to Toledo where we caught up with our guide Luis. We drove up to the main view point which opened up the wonderful image before us. We were dropped off with Luis in the town and there followed our three hour walking tour through the Jewish Quarter then visiting the magnificent Cathedral with wonderful examples of El Greco's art. We also visited El Greco's House and studied in detail the huge painting - The Burial of Count Orgaz - in its special situ. Luis booked us into a traditional restaurant where we enjoyed a lovely relaxed lunch. We managed to visit the Sefardi Museum after lunch before being picked up by our driver for the trip back to Madrid. Luis was excellent as our guide, full of knowledge and enthusiasm. All in all, an amazing day. read less

Our guide was fourth generation Basque raised and educated in Bilbao and that connection was powerfully expressed in her deep understanding of not only the Guggenheim itself but the impact it had in the city and the region and how it came into being. The collection itself is well worth the time to visit and spend time experiencing. The investment in a private tour is well worth it as our guide added a depth and explained nuances that would have been impossible to understand in the time. Our guide was Iratxe Muñoz. Request her as your guide. You will not be disappointed. She has a unique and deep understanding of the impact of Guggenheim on Basque culture in general and Bilbao in particular. My only regret is that we did not have more time than the two hours we had available. Time is precious. Time with her was well spent and I enjoyed every moment. read less
