Description of the Anna Frank Walking Tour
The diary of Anna Frank is one of the most harrowing accounts and best illustrates the anguish and horrors experienced by the Jewish people during the Nazi occupation of Amsterdam.
On this Anna Frank walking tour of the Jewish Quarter, we will delve into many details about the Nazi Holocaust, as well as the events of the Jewish resistance and deportation to concentration camps.
The whole story will be told by the expert guide, who will rely on the accounts left by Anna Frank in her notes written during the years 1942 to 1944.
During the 2-hour tour, you will be accompanied by a private guide to get to know and visit the most emblematic points of the Jewish Quarter. In this way you will discover the history that surrounds each point that you will visit.
We will depart from the Jewish Historical Museum, and then walk through the neighborhood that housed many Jews during the Nazi occupation.
On this walk, you will see the monuments that remain as witnesses of Amsterdam’s darkest times.
You will pass by the Portuguese Synagogue, the Auschwitz Memorial, the Jewish Council Headquarters, among other historic buildings to reach Anna Frank’s house, where the Annex that served as a refuge for her and her family, until they were discovered by the German forces, is located.

Portuguese synagogue
The Sephardic community built this imposing Synagogue in the Dutch Golden Age, which was almost entirely destroyed during World War II.
However, between 1953 and 1957 it was rebuilt again, and today it is one of the most representative monuments of the influence the Jews had on Amsterdam.
Auschwitz Memorial
We will pass the Auschwitz Memorial, which was erected as a tribute to all Dutch victims who perished in the concentration camps.
It will be a very emotional moment that will remain forever in your memory.
The Stevedore
Also, you will see the famous statue of the Longshoreman, which is a reminder of the dock workers’ strikes in 1941 during World War II.
