Luxor is a city on the east bank of the Nile River in southern Egypt. It lies on the site of ancient Thebes, the capital of the pharaohs at the height of their power. The present city surrounds two huge surviving ancient monuments: the elegant Temple of Luxor and the Temple of Karnak, one mile to the north. The royal tombs of the Valley of the Kings and the Valley of the Queens lie on the west bank of the river.

Not everyone visits the temples of Abydos and Dendera because it’s a long trip, but it’s worth it because they are two of the most beautiful temples in Egypt. Best of all, these temples are not swarming with tourists and you can wander around and enjoy at your leisure.

You will be picked up from your desired location in Luxor and head first to the temple of Abydos, located about 170 km north of Luxor. The temple is famous for its numerous tombs and sepulchres.

On the way back you will visit the temple of Dendera (about 80 km from Luxor). The temple has several hidden crypts, which can be accessed through a small opening.

After this visit, the return journey to Luxor takes approximately 1.5 hours.
